11/11/12 was the day TEDxAmericanRiviera took over the Bacara Resort & Spa and I was there! It was a perfect day full of ideas worth sharing. Some of the people I got to meet included:
- The Producers – (amazing people) Mark Sylvester and Kymberlee Weil of introNetworks, Inc.
- The Organizers – (totally awesome) Tami Sherman of Elements Meetings and Dawn Mitcham, CPA
- The Ambassadors – and volunteers (there were over 80!)
- The Speakers – I was monitoring social media during the event. If you read the #tedxar, like a mini transcript of the event, you can read along with comments from the audience. The day started unconventionally – with Sheila Kelley and the S Factor. Her talk was a great way to start the day! I didn’t watch every speech because, after the first session, my mind was basically overloaded! Lissa Rankin explored how the mind can heal out bodies. Dr. Rick Schuburt talked about the concept and cadges – how we can live beyond our limiting ideas. - The Sponsors – do you see those HUGE swag bags full of goodies? I got my photo taken with Lynda from Lynda.com 😉
- The Audience – There were 6,372 views in online ustream audience, 200 people in the theatre, and 100 in the active lounge.
- The Entertainers – I also was involved with the FUN. The guests were entertained with live musicians during breaks, social networking games with prizes and more. I set up my black light stage and brought along some friends with LED hula hoops as well. We ended up experimenting with Artist Ethan Turpin on his piece called Video Feedback: Pixel Behaviors, also on display at the Santa Barbara Contemporary Arts Forum
