This holiday season I treated myself to a Pencil byFiftyThree for drawing on the iPad. It’s amazing – honestly worth every penny. I’ve been using technology to create art as a practice for about 10 years. In fact I posted on of the first videos on YouTube about drawing on the iPad that has over 25,000 views.
Technology has come a long way in the last 5 years toward making the digital creative process more intuitive and simulate actual drawing. I still prefer the vector applications like Adobe Ideas, but the Paper app has some amazing features and that makes up for the limitation on the print scale – it’s perfect for journals. I have over a dozen journals in my Paper app – from dream images to UI sketches and lecture notes. They also PRINT the journals – fantastic idea.
Some of my recent drawings using Pencil and Paper from FiftyThree – kind of random and just playing around with the pen. One of the best features is the line can go from thick to thin depending on the speed of the pen… I’m still learning about all the features…
