Rainbows have captured my imagination. They are a naturally occurring and numinous event. Symbolically they are part of myths like St. Patrick’s Day and Noahs’s Ark, and many more from all over the world. More recently the rainbow has become a sign in the gay rights movement. There is also a strange phenomenon of the rainbow puke meme that is getting even more popular thanks to the SnapChat filter.
Artist have used rainbows in their lyrics, poems, paintings and illustrations. The colors are captivating and bright. Below are photos from my process of painting Rainbow Bird – inspired by the many delightful birds that sing in my neighborhood. I think there will be more rainbows in my work from now on.
