12th Annual Santa Barbara Arts Symposium

Attending the 2017 Santa Barbra Arts Symposium in November was an opportunity to learn about organizations and meet people in the community. As I continue to explore mixed method and art practice research projects, I’m excited about all the potential for collaboration on the central coast.

The country presented the Art and Economic Prosperity report along with information about an underpass public art project.

Per the Americans for the Arts’ Arts and Economic Prosperity® 5 report,  released on June 17, 2017, the 95 participating county nonprofit arts organizations supported 5,857 jobs and generated almost $200 million dollars, delivering $19.1 million in local and state government revenue. Arts and Culture contribute significantly to the success of our local economy.

Keynote Speakers and notes from the day:

  • Mitch Landrieu Mayor, City of New Orleans, LA
  • Randy Cohen, VP of Research and Policy, Americans for the Arts
  • Sara Reisman, Artistic Director, Shelley & Donald Rubin Foundation
