I’ve been asking myself what art supplies to take on my trip to Italy. I’m going for about a week and my luggage is minimal. I remember that, in the past, I’ve enjoyed sketching people and buildings while traveling. People who are sleeping are best because they stay in one place long enough to draw. The drawings below are from 20 years ago, when I was an exchange student in Italy.
What I’ve decided to bring is art supplies for sketching because these activities done require electricity. I settled on a 9×12 inch sketchbook of recycled brown paper, 1 white and 2 neon gel pens, a calligraphy pen, one green micron pen, and a drafting pencil. The drafting pencil is nice because it doesn’t need to be sharpened.
For digital artwork I have my iPhone, 360 nano camera, noise canceling headphones, normal headphones, a usb battery, assorted plugs and cords.
My first sketch is mostly just testing the pens and I reminder of how long it’s been since I’ve made drawings!!! I’m looking forward to filling these pages. These photos were taken at the Santa Barbara Airport.
