Original Paintings

When I saw the original paintings by Monet it changed the way I looked at the world. The use of color and the size of the paintings just transformed my vision. I was in Jr. High at the time – 13 years old. I was already into art at that age and it was then that I fell in love with painting. My original paintings started at about 12 years of age and were mostly self portraits and studies of figures or still life arrangements. I went to college at the Kansas City art institute and my major focus was paintings. I was taught by serval amazing contemporary abstract painters, including Warren Rosser and Lester Goldman. Even with the excellent education of abstract painting my original paintings tend to be grounded in representational image. I believe this is in part due to my fascination with surrealism and impressionism – exploring what we see and what we feel emotionally.
